Srinagar, Aug 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Razdan Top, nearly 11,700 feet above sea level, where BSF personnel, representatives of the Chinar Uphar Foundation and local citizens came together under the Tricolour to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, peace and the spirit of service.

As per news agency JKNS, 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated with immense patriotic fervour and national pride at Razdan Top, one of the highest & strategically significant mountain passes in Jammu & Kashmir, situated at an altitude of approximately 11,667 feet (3,556 metres).

The celebration brought together personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), representatives of the Chinar Uphar Foundation (NGO) & members of the local community to honour the Tricolour & celebrate the spirit of a free, united & sovereign India.

The programme was attended by Shri Naresh Kumar, Company Commander; Shri Govind Kumar, Sub-Inspector; Smt. Rupali Rajak, Assistant Sub-Inspector; & Shri Arun Taid, Assistant Sub-Inspector, along with other dedicated personnel of the 62nd Battalion, BSF, Northern Frontier.

Representing the Chinar Uphar Foundation were Mr. Altaf Bhat, President, & Adv. Saika Rashid, Vice President.

The Tricolour was honoured against the breathtaking backdrop of the high Himalayas, creating a powerful symbol of India’s unity, sovereignty & collective pride. The participation of BSF personnel alongside civilians from Jammu & Kashmir reflected the strong bond between citizens & the country’s security forces.

The significance of the celebration was further enhanced by the challenging high-altitude environment of Razdan Top. The upper reaches remained considerably cooler than the Kashmir plains, highlighting the difficult conditions in which security personnel continue to perform their duties. Weather conditions across the wider Gurez region remained markedly cold during the morning hours.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Altaf Bhat, President of the Chinar Uphar Foundation, expressed deep respect and gratitude towards the BSF personnel for their unwavering commitment & service to the nation.

He said that celebrating Independence Day alongside security personnel at such a challenging and strategically important location was a matter of immense honour. He emphasised that the Tricolour represents not only India’s freedom but also the unity, sacrifices, constitutional values & aspirations of its people.

Adv. Saika Rashid, Vice President of the Chinar Uphar Foundation, also paid tribute to the BSF personnel & highlighted the importance of strengthening the bond between citizens & the forces safeguarding the nation’s borders.

The celebration served as a reminder that patriotism is not confined to cities, towns or ceremonial grounds. From the plains to the remote and difficult mountain frontiers, the spirit of India continues to unite its people under the Tricolour.

The gathering also conveyed a message of peace, national integration, mutual respect & responsible citizenship, with civilians and security personnel coming together in the true spirit of “Nation First.”

Razdan Top, which lies on the route connecting the Kashmir Valley with the remote Gurez Valley, holds considerable strategic & geographic significance. The difficult terrain & high-altitude conditions make the area particularly demanding for personnel deployed in the region.

The Independence Day celebration concluded with renewed respect for the Tricolour, appreciation for the nation’s armed & security forces, and a collective commitment to contribute towards building a stronger, peaceful, inclusive & progressive India.

The Chinar Uphar Foundation extended its heartfelt gratitude to the brave personnel of the 62nd Battalion, BSF, Northern Frontier, for their service, courage & dedication to the nation. (JKNS)
