Ganderbal, Jun 01: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that two local militants are active in the Ganderbal district and frequent reports of militant movement from neighbouring districts continues to pour in.

Addressing a press conference, SSP Ganderbal Suhail Munawar said that local militants are active in the district. “Both are local residents of Ganderbal district. Huge huge quantity of ammunition was recovered in this district in last one week,” he said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said that on Monday, on a reliable information about presence of some suspicious objects in a forest , Ganderbbal Police along with joint teams of 24 RR and 115 Bn CRPF launched a CASO in the forest area of Shajinar, Gutlibagh.

“During searches in the thick woods, ammunition was found lodged in a cavity beneath a rock and was recovered on the spot,” he said. “Recovery includes 11 AK Magzine, 597 AK Live Ammunition Rounds. 01 Pistol Magzine, 06 Pistol Ammunition Rounds and 12 UBGL Rounds”

He further said that a case FIR no. 91 of 2021 U/S 7/25 / IA Act has been registered in PS Ganderbal and investigation taken up.

The SSP said that on May 25, acting on a specific information, 34 Asaam Rifle and army’s 24 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in the forest of Naranag and recovered the ammunition.

“During search operation, the forces recovered two magazines of AK-47 rifle, a live grenade and 30 rounds of AK-47,” he said.

He said in this regard registered an FIR vide number 46 /2021 under section 7/25 Indian Arms Act 3/4 Explosive Act at Police Station Kangan and investigation area on—(KNO)
