Srinagar, Jun 07 : A 10-year- old boy from Srinagar has brought laurels to the whole J&K as he has created a world record by reciting and identifying names, capitals, currencies and continents of all 195 countries after flags were shown to him.

Abdul Aleem(10), a resident of summer capital Srinagar, who is a student of 6th standard at Tyndale Bisco School Srinagar has created world record as he identified countries after flags were shown to him and recited names, capitals, currencies and continents of all countries in 9 minutes and 26 seconds.

Aleem is fond of visiting countries besides that since his childhood he is inclined towards collection of currencies.

Aleem while talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that it was his maternal uncle Hilal Shora, settled in America—the man, who inclined him towards the maps, currencies and world geography as he was the first person who provided him first currencies of different countries.

The little kid said that he has never used mobile phone or social media but he spends most of his time in reading encyclopedia, world geography and general books.

Besides being so sharp in memorising things, Aleem is a gold medalist in swimming and is also football captain of his class team besides that he is interested in chess, carrom and skiing.

He is also in robotics as well and has used various types of censors like temperature, motion, ultrasonic censor, servo, audrino uno, micro controller in C programming in various projects like design of Automatic Dustbin, reverse parking of vehicles, border trespassing alarms etc.

Aleem said that he is very happy by creating the world record and he is hopeful that he is going to create more records in coming days. Presently, Aleem is writing a book which will be published by the end of this year.

His father, Ajaz Ahmad Botu who is AEE in Jal Shakti department and mother Iqra Manzoor, who is Assistant Engineer (AE) in Power development department , while talking with KNO said that they are proud parents at the moment and there is need that parents must give time to their children.

They said that every child is special but there is a need to identify the specialty in their children and support them to follow their dreams and talent.

They said that Aleem is different from children of his era as instead of spending time on smartphones and watching TV, he is spending time in reading books and playing indoor/outdoor games—(KNO)
