Bandipora, June 09: The authorities in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have now launched door-to-door Covid-19 vaccination drive during night hours in several remote areas as the average population of these areas would remain out of their homes during day hours.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the villagers in these remote areas including Kudara, Sirinder and other adjoining areas were often found out of their homes during day time as they would into the woods for their routine chores.

He said that the authorities then decided to launch door-to-door vaccination drive during night hours to ensure no one is left out.

He said that the around 33 people have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 during last night while the drive will continue in the coming days as well for the people of remote areas.

Block medical officer Bandipora, Dr Masrat Iqbal said that the night vaccination drive was started in far-flung area like Kudara, Sumlar and Sirinder, where the people are not available during the day as they are busy in grazing their cattle.

He said that they decided to administer vaccination during night hours to ensure no one is left out.

Masrat said that the move comes after repeated efforts by the health authorities failed as people in these remote areas would remain out of their homes during day time.

“Our vaccinations team did a good job and adopted a good strategy. The drive will continue in the days as well,” Masrat further said—(KNO)
