Handwara, Jun 20: Body of a 25-year-old ‘mentally unsound’ person was found near Government Degree College Handwara here on Sunday afternoon.
Reports reaching GNS said that the body was found by some passersby lying near the College premises. A police team was informed which soon after reached the spot and took the body into their custody.
The person according to locals was ‘mentally unsound and was frequently seen wandering in and around main town Handwara.’
Meanwhile a police official concerned confirmed the recovery of body from the specified area. The official identified the deceased as one Mohammad Iqbal Bhat (25) son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, a resident of Braripora.
“The body is currently undergoing medical formalities, following to which it will be handed over to the family for last rites”, the official added. (GNS)
