Srinagar, Jun 28: An Assistant Commander, Sub Inspector were among the three Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) personnel, were injured in an ongoing encounter between forces and militants in Maloora area of Parimpora on Srinagar outskirts, officials said Monday.

Official sources informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that three CRPF personnel including two officers were injured, who have been rushed to the hospital for the treatment.

They said Assistant Commander, is out of danger while it is not confirmed yet whether two others injured including SI and other CRPF man have received bullet injury.

The encounter is on and may conclude tomorrow morning in the wake of darkness. “An unidentified militant has been killed. The operation in the area is on. Firing is going on intermittently. Operation has been put on a halt due to darkness. More forces have reached the spot and cordon layers have been tightened further to prevent hiding militants from fleeing,” they said.

Earlier encounter broke out between security forces and the militants in the afternoon after police acting on a specific lead about presence of militants in a house at Maloora, Parimpora laid a siege in the area and came under heavy volume of fire when the suspected spot was zeroed in.

“Since the area falls in Srinagar, police are conducting the operation along with the Quick Reaction Teams of CRPF,” the official said. Asked whether any CRPF man sustained injury, he said two CRPF men had received injuries during the encounter.

Pertinently, police arrested top Lashkar commander Abrar Naveed from Parimpora area hours before the encounter broke out in the area. Kashmir police chief Vijay Kumar termed the arrest of Abrar as a “big success.” Abrar was travelling in an alto car and was intercepted at Parimpora. A short video clip of he being arrested also went viral on social media—(KNO)
