Anantnag: A day-long programme for adolescent students under the project “Girl Empowerment” was organized at Govt. H.S.S., Damhal in which various orators highlighted the importance of Girl Empowerment before the students.
On this occasion Tanveera Akhter, ICDS Department, Dr. Gazala PHC, Achabal were present. Teachers including Farooq Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Ashaq Sahab, Adil Ahmad and Dar Sahib putforth their brilliant speeches and made the students aware about some issues which a student faces during the adolescent.
The non-teaching staff including Aejaz Ahmad, Mohd Altaf, Mohd Iqbal, Myzooba Akhter, Shaheena Akhter and Jabeena Akhter made necessary arrangements for programme.
Teacher Khurshid Ah Bhat, in his speech, said, “To actually empower girls or women, the discrimination should be put to an end. And gender roles as to what jobs should be done by whom should be an individual’s choice and not the society’s. The pressure and limitations put by society on women are appalling, to say the least. So let’s break free from these defined and limiting gender roles and start to live equal lives at home, so the next generation knows everyone is equal. Because it is tiring to hear that equality is still a dream, it is upon us to make it a reality.”
The Principal of the institute, Bilqueesa Ji, also invited a lady gynecologist. She thanked the teachers who participated in the event and remained patient and vigilant during the whole session.
