SHOPIAN, FEB 07: Vice Chairman, District Development Council, Shopian and Apni Party General Secretary Youth Wing, Irfan Manhas today toured Berthipora and adjoining areas of Tehsil Keller. He paid surprise visit to Berthipora Health Centre to assess the quality of health services and patient care. This is second such surprise visit to the health centre within two months.

Manhas inspected all sections of the hospital and pointed out the improvement areas. A few paramedical staff were found unauthorizedly absent from duty and explanation in this regard was sought from higher authorities.

During the inspection, locals demanded a female doctor at PHC which has been a long pending issue especially for the women of the area. He assured that all genuine demands including transformer for hospital and systematic functioning of the health centre would be taken up with higher authorities and completed in a time bound manner.

In this regard, Manhas shared all details of hospital visit with Chief Medical Officer Shopian as well as with Director Health Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, later in the day.

Manhas also visited Veterinary Center in the area and met the concerned staff. An official was found absent from duty and was attached with office of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Shopian till detailed enquiry.

During the tour, he interacted with local Auqaf and other committee members who demanded a public park near Jamia Masjid. Manhas called and directed Tehsildar Keller to demarcate the land for this purpose and assured the public that work will be taken up in some plan or with concerned department.

While concluding the tour, Manhas made a big announcement of sanctioning a stadium in the area for recreational and developmental activities of the youth. A huge gathering of people especially youth were seen cheering and looked over joyous with this announcement. They lauded the overall developmental efforts undertaken by DDC Vice Chairman Irfan Manhas in the District.

Manhas thanked local committees, delegations especially youth of the area for the warm welcome and support during the day long tour. He reiterated his stand to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people of Shopian.
