SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Apparently for the first time, Anti-Corruption Bureau trapped and arrested a female Sarpanch in District Anantnag for accepting bribe for approving files related to works executed by the complainant.
Sarpanch Khulchohar, District Anantnag, namely Hafiza Begum , wife of Ghulam Qadir Kumar, resident of Khulchohar, Block Shangus, Anantnag was demanding bribe of Rs 6500 on account of approving work files related to works executed under MGNREGA, 14 FC and SBM through the office of BDO Shangus.
On receiving the complaint in this regard, Police Station ACB Anantnag constituted a trap team, which caught Hafiza Begum red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 6500 from the complainant. She was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from her possession in presence of independent witnesses.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
