Srinagar, Aug 25: Around three percent men and two percent women in Jammu and Kashmir have high blood glucose levels and around one percent people in J&K having normal blood glucose levels and are using medicines to lower blood glucose levels, the National Health and Family Survey-5 (NHFS-5) has reported.

As per the report available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Jammu & Kashmir, two percent of women age 15-49 have more than 141 mg/dL blood glucose levels and in comparison, 3 percent of men age 15-49 have high and one percent have very high blood glucose levels.

It also reads that women and men in older age groups and those with less than 5 years of schooling have relatively high blood glucose levels and Men are more likely than women to have normal blood glucose levels and are taking medicine to lower their blood glucose level (2% of men versus 1% of women). Less than one percent of both women (0.6%) and men (0.2%) have blood glucose levels 2140 mg/dl and are taking medicine to lower their blood glucose level.

As per the data, age has correlation with blood sugar level and with growing age you have more chances of having high blood sugar level as just 0.5 percent women of 15-19 age are having high blood sugar level which increases to over 1.4 percent in 20-24 age group, around 1.3 percent in 25-29 age group, 2.3 percent in 30-34 age group, 3.3 percent in 35-39 age group, 4.7 percent in 40-45 age group and 5.2 percent in 45-49 age group.

Moreover, 0.3 percent women of 15-19 age are having very high blood sugar level which increases to over 0.5 percent in 20-24 age group, around 0.9 percent in 25-29 age group, 1.4 percent in 30-34 age group, 2.6 percent in 35-39 age group, 2.8 percent in 40-45 age group and 5.2 percent in 45-49 age group.

Further 0.7 percent women having normal blood sugar level are using medicines to lower their blood sugar level besides that 0.6 percent women having high blood sugar levels are using medicines to keep blood sugar levels normal.

Beeides that 0.0 percent men of 15-19 age are having very high blood sugar level which increases to over 0.6 percent in 20-24 age group, around 0.4 percent in 25-29 age group, 0.6 percent in 30-34 age group, 1.7percent in 35-39 age group, 2.2 percent in 40-45 age group and 1 percent in 45-49 age group.

2.8 percent in the 40-45 age group and 5.2 percent in the 45-49 age group.

Further 2.1 percent men having normal blood sugar level are using medicines to lower their blood sugar level besides that 0.4 percent women having high blood sugar levels are using medicines to keep blood sugar levels normal—(KNO)
