Kulgam, Sep, 30: A specific checkpoint (Naka) at Khudwani Byepass was established by police party of police station Qaimoh and during checking one person after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot. However, he was chased and apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. After search, officers present were able to recover 750 grams of Cannabis like contraband substance from his possession. The said person was identified as; Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Rahman Sheikh R/O Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh.
Moreover, another checkpoint (Naka) was established by the police party led by IC PP JT at Gulab Bagh and during checking one person carrying a nylon bag was intercepted. After search, 3 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 03.50 grams of Brownsugar, one digital weighing machine and cash of Rs 29750 pertaining to proceeds of narcotic substance were recovered. The said person identified as Nizamuddin Kunshee Son of Mohd Abdullah Kunshee resident of Gulab Bagh was arrested on spot.
Accordingly, Case with FIR No. 91/2024 U/S 8/20 of NDPS Act at Police Station Qaimoh and case vide FIR No 226/2024 U/S 8/15, 21 NDPS act at police station Qazigund stands registered and investigation has been taken up in both cases.
People are requested to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood should be shared with nearby police unit or Dial-112so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
