Kulgam, Nov, 09: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam marked Legal Services Day with a special event held at the Town Hall in Kulgam, under the chairmanship of Mr. Aijaz Ah Khan, Chairman of DLSA Kulgam, and the guidance of Mr. Muzamil Ah Wani, Secretary of DLSA. The event aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of legal aid and citizens’ right to access free legal services.
The celebration was attended by local residents, schoolchildren, legal professionals, and government officials, all coming together to highlight the crucial role of DLSA in ensuring justice for all, particularly for marginalized and economically disadvantaged communities.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Aijaz Ah Khan, Chairman of DLSA Kulgam, spoke passionately about the significance of legal literacy in promoting social justice. “Today is a reminder of our shared commitment to the values of justice and equality. The District Legal Services Authority is dedicated to providing free legal assistance to those who are most in need. I urge every citizen to make full use of these services, as justice should never be a privilege but a right,” said Mr. Khan.
Mr. Muzamil Ah Wani, Secretary of DLSA, elaborated on the authority’s ongoing efforts to expand legal awareness throughout the district. “Legal Services Day serves as a reminder that access to justice is not restricted to those who can afford it. It is for every citizen, irrespective of their social or economic background. We are working tirelessly to ensure that legal aid reaches every corner of Kulgam,” emphasized Mr. Wani.
The program included insightful discussions on the role of DLSA in providing legal aid, along with informative presentations on various legal services and schemes available to the public. Attendees were also offered free legal counseling and assistance, underscoring DLSA’s commitment to ensuring access to justice for all.
