Kulgam: The Municipal Council Kulgam has taken swift action to address the challenges posed by the recent snowfall, focusing on clearing snow from roads and footpaths in the main town. Municipal workers were seen actively engaged in snow removal across key areas, ensuring smooth traffic flow and safe pedestrian movement. To further enhance safety, salt powder was spread on affected areas to prevent slippery conditions and reduce the risk of accidents.
The initiative is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to tackle the difficulties of winter weather, aiming to maintain public safety and convenience during the harsh season. Gh Mohiuddin Bhat, the Incharge of Snow Clearance at the Municipal Council Kulgam, emphasized that the team has been working since the first snowfall to address accumulated snow in various areas. He added, “We are actively spreading salt in these areas to prevent accidents and ensure safer movement for both pedestrians and vehicles.”
Bhat also appealed to local shopkeepers to take preventive measures by placing stoppers on their rooftops to prevent snow from falling onto footpaths, further safeguarding pedestrians. The council’s prompt actions are receiving positive feedback from residents, highlighting the importance of such efforts in ensuring public safety during winter months.
