Kulgam, Feb 21: The issue of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) exam coinciding with the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) on February 23 has come to the government’s notice and is currently under review, with possible solutions being explored, said Education Minister Sakina Masood.
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is scheduled to conduct the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2025 prelims on February 23, while the Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct AFCAT-1 2025 on February 22 and 23.
While addressing the media in Kulgam after a district review meeting on Friday, the minister acknowledged concerns regarding the overlap and assured that steps are being taken to assess potential solutions. “We will examine it, explore possible solutions, and ensure it is looked into,” she stated in response to a query about the demand for rescheduling the exams.
She also highlighted another pressing issue regarding ongoing board exams for Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, where some students faced difficulties due to clerical errors in their documentation. “Some students were left behind due to mistakes made either by a principal or a clerk, causing issues with their names. The students met me, and I believe they have worked hard throughout the year. Immediate steps were taken, and I directed board officials to allow the students to appear for the examination so that their year-long effort does not go in vain,” Masood said.
Students who have applied for both JKAS and AFCAT have urged the authorities to address the scheduling conflict, as appearing for both exams on the same day would be impossible. Aspirants are hopeful for an early resolution to avoid losing out on either opportunity.
As the matter remains under review, candidates await further clarification from the concerned authorities regarding possible adjustments or solutions.
