Srinagar, May 17: Renowned sports personality Mr. Abid Pathan has appreciated the decision of the Lieutenant Governor to extend the tenure of Prof. Nilofar Khan as Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University (KU). He also praised the dedicated staff of the university.
Speaking about Prof. Nilofar Khan, Mr. Pathan said, “She is someone who understands the strengths and weaknesses of Kashmir University and has worked tirelessly to address them—something many previous Vice Chancellors did not do.”
He emphasized that since KU is not only a hub of education but also a major employer, its leadership must be ethical, and Prof. Nilofar is one such ethical leader.
Mr. Pathan further added that the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofar Khan, along with the Registrar of the university Dr Naseer Iqbal
, will be highly beneficial for the university’s progress and has the potential to take KU to new heights.
Beyond academics, Prof. Nilofar Khan has also worked at the grassroots level and established a sports academy for the betterment of youth.
Mr. Pathan highlighted that for the first time in the 72-year history of KU, a weightlifting competition was held, with participation from almost all universities. He commended Prof. Nilofar for organizing the event in a very professional and efficient manner.
He also pointed out the lack of proper playgrounds for locals and appealed for dedicated sports facilities so that local youth can engage more actively in sports.
