Srinagar,  30 May 2025 : A warm and emotional farewell get-together was organised today at SKIMS Soura to honour the retirement of Mr. Ishtiyaq Beigh, a senior employee of the institution, President of the Non-Gazetted Employees Welfare Association (NGEWA), and Chairman of the GR Beigh Memorial Foundation. The event brought together doctors, administrative officers, union members, and staff from across departments in a tribute to Mr. Beigh’s decades of dedicated service.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS, and Dr. Sameena Mufti, along with a large gathering of colleagues and employees, all of whom came to express their respect and admiration for Mr. Beigh’s long-standing contributions.

Prof. Farooq Jan, in his address, described Mr. Beigh as “an irreplaceable part of SKIMS — a man who worked with sincerity, patience, and a genuine desire to uplift others.” He further praised his efforts in maintaining harmony between the administration and staff over the years.

Dr. Sameena Mufti also shared her reflections, highlighting Mr. Beigh’s humanitarian efforts through the GR Beigh Memorial Foundation, which has supported countless underprivileged families and students. “He has always been more than just an employee — he is a social worker, a leader, and a man with a large heart,” she said.

Throughout his career, Mr. Beigh remained a strong voice for employee rights. His recent efforts in securing long-awaited promotions for nearly 400 SKIMS employees were widely appreciated and described as a historic achievement under his leadership.

Staff members recalled numerous examples of his compassion, humility, and availability — whether for resolving administrative concerns or simply lending a patient ear to someone in distress.

The farewell concluded with a commemorative presentation and standing ovation, honouring a man who gave not just his time, but his heart and soul to the institution.

The event was not just a farewell, but a powerful reminder that true leadership is about service — and Mr. Ishtiyaq Beigh embodied that to the fullest.
