Srinagar : 14 August; The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association delegation on Wednesday met with Mirwaiz Kashmir, Dr. Molvi Umar Farooq, in Srinagar. The delegation apprised him of the pressing social and educational issues faced by students from Jammu and Kashmir, both within the Union Territory and across India. The Delegation was led by National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami and was accompanied by National Spokesperson Dr Zubair Reshi, Uttar Pradesh State President Dr Irfan Bashir and Advisor of Association Peerzada Mahboob ul Haq.
During the interaction, the delegation highlighted the challenges confronting marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society, particularly those unable to avail the benefits provided by state, civil society groups and NGOs in the fields of education and social welfare.
The Association shared its vision with Mirwaiz Kashmir for launching comprehensive mentorship and counselling programmes aimed at guiding students in accessing diverse national and international scholarships, fellowships, and academic opportunities. They informed him that the Association has built a strong network by engaging alumni and experts from various academic disciplines to mentor aspiring students for prestigious programs across the country and the globe, while also fostering a culture of innovation, research, and academic excellence in the education sector.
Mirwaiz Kashmir appreciated the Association’s sustained efforts in supporting students across the country, particularly during times of crisis and uncertainty, and acknowledged its role in bridging educational gaps and fostering a sense of solidarity among students from Jammu and Kashmir.
He assured his full support for initiatives that uplift and empower students, emphasising the importance of innovation in the education sector. He further expressed his commitment to mobilising Ulema from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country to work collectively towards aligning madrasa education with the evolving demands of the knowledge economy, ensuring that religious education and contemporary skills go hand in hand.
Mirwaiz Kashmir also stressed that scholars and clerics have a pivotal role to play in nurturing an educated, ethical, and socially conscious generation. He affirmed that the clergy stands ready to contribute towards building a future where every student from Jammu and Kashmir can realise their full potential.
