Kupwara, Aug 22: In a landmark achievement, Tehsil Lalpora has become the first tehsil in Kupwara district to distribute property cards under the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme, marking a historic step in strengthening rural property ownership and land record management.

The distribution ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner Complex Kupwara, where Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant BalaSaheb Suse in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kupwara Mumtaz Ahmad Peerzada and Tehsildar Lalpora Dr Masroor Gayas handed over the property cards to beneficiaries of Tehsil Lalpora.

Speaking Regarding the program officials highlighted that the initiative will bring transparency in land records, empower villagers with clear ownership rights, and pave the way for smooth property transactions and financial empowerment through institutional credit.

With this milestone, Tehsil Lalpora has set a precedent by becoming the first in the district to implement the SVAMITVA scheme successfully. Officials further assured that more property cards will be distributed in other tehsils in the near future, terming this achievement as the “first step towards a district-wide transformation.”

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that the property cards will provide them with a legal document ensuring ownership rights and eliminating long-pending disputes related to land records.

The SVAMITVA scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to provide an integrated property validation solution for rural India by using advanced drone technology for surveying and mapping village lands.
