Officials said the accident occurred when a Sumo vehicle reportedly lost control and hit a roadside poplar tree at Amirabad, resulting in injuries to several passengers travelling in the vehicle.

The injured were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tral for initial treatment by locals and emergency responders.

Block Medical Officer Tral Dr Jawahira told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that four of the injured were later referred to hospitals in Srinagar for specialized treatment due to the nature of their injuries.

Among those shifted to Srinagar is Mushtaq Ahmad Gojri, 45, son of Nazir Ahmad and a resident of Mahchoo Tral, who doctors said is in critical condition.

The other injured referred to Srinagar include Farooq Ahmad Chopan, 30, son of Abdul Ahad from Kahlil Tral, who sustained a head injury but is stated to be stable.

Waseem Gojri, 19, son of Mohammad Sidiq from Nagabal Tral, suffered internal abdominal injuries and his condition is reported to be stable, officials said.

Another injured, Abdul Qayoom Chopan, 18, son of Fareed Ahmad from Nagabal Tral, sustained chest and abdominal injuries and is also said to be stable.

Doctors at SMHS Hospital Srinagar said the injured were being evaluated at the surgical casualty ward for further medical management.
